Students at an alternative school in Canterbury have lost their 'little safe haven' after an accidental fire.
The facility is owned by Christchurch City Mission. City Missioner Michael Gorman said the fire was "disappointing and discouraging." " The kids have developed a sense of identity with the place so even though it might not be a luxurious, flash place it's of value to them." Once again we are experiencing earthquakes and for many this brings back old feelings of worry, stress, and insecurity. We might have thought the quakes were all over but nature has other ideas.
Clearly we are concerned for those people up north who have damaged homes and work places and we are in sympathy with the families of those who have died. Earthquakes come upon us without warning and they are out of our control.
We must not be surprised if we are feeling many different and strong emotions. And we need to reach out to others who we can help and who can help us.
