The Foodbank opens to the public each weekday from 9am – 12.30pm.
The City Mission has established a 30 bed men’s short term emergency night shelter to provide accommodation for men. We are open at 5pm every evening, 365 days of the year.
The Men's Day Programme provides a safe, warm place for men to come and spend their day with company and purpose. Social Workers are available to help with underlying issues.
We provide free emergency short term accommodation in a women’s night shelter for up to 7 women. We are open at 5pm every evening, 365 days of the year.
Walsh House is a day centre for women, where they can feel comfortable and safe during the day and participate in a variety of activities. Social Workers are available to help.
The City Mission with funding from Christchurch City Council and Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, has set up 3 apartments to provide temporary emergency accommodation for homeless parents and their children. All residents are allocated a social worker during their stay with us who completes an assessment and can access our budget, foodbank and social work services for assistance and support as required.
Our Budget Advisor helps client manage debt and bill payments through advocacy, financial education and, in some cases, total money management.
The Intake Social Workers provide a short term generic social work service. An initial assessment is completed, information/advocacy given and then, if appropriate, a referral made to the appropriate Mission service or outside agencies.
The City Mission provides detoxification and individual counselling and provides immediate responses for clients presenting to make changes in their alcohol and other drug use. All Alcohol and Other Drug services are free of charge.
