Christchurch's City Mission foodbank will receive a $32,000 injection following an annual Sunday lunch event.
More than 240 people chowed down on a three-course Mediterranean-inspired banquet organised by Christchurch chef Jonny Schwass at Christ's College on Sunday.
City Missioner Michael Gorman said the $32,000 raised was about $7000 more than last year's event.
The money was important to the foodbank, where demand was still strong from city residents, Gorman said.
"It's not showing signs of letting up."
The money would enable the foodbank to buy food to supplement the donations it received.
All the food, drink, labour and entertainment was donated, so 100 per cent of the proceeds could be given to the City Mission.
