We had a visit from two of the star players of the Canterbury Rams. They came along to visit the men from the shelter/day programme.
After a quick meet and greet, they went outside to chuck a few balls around and, although the men were a bit weary at first, it quickly turned into a free for all of laughter, joking and great fun. The men showed a sense of team spirit and community amongst themselves. The Rams boys really helped to boost their confidence and this was apparent in their outgoing behaviour.
Recently the Men’s Day programme had a BBQ at Spencer Park with 14 men going along. After a game of French cricket and a chuck around of a rugby ball the men cooked up some chops and sausages. Following lunch they all went for bush and beach walks. A simple day but very much enjoyed by the men, most of whom had never been to Spencer Park or some even that far out of the city for many years.
