To all our supporters, clients and to everyone in Canterbury we wish you all the best over the next weeks which will test everyone.
For us, this represents yet another challenge added to the many we have faced over the 90 years we have served our community.
We are an essential service during this important time. Our staff will continue providing food, shelter and counselling to those who need it.
The City Mission will look after the people who need shelter and food and counselling the way we always have. They need our care and we are here to give it.
But we do need to do things a little differently.
Our Foodbank service will continue but we are going to be delivering food out to the people who need it rather than having them assemble in large groups at our premises.
We will continue our emergency accommodation services for men and women to keep them safe, fed, clean and warm.
Our social workers and addiction counsellors will continue to offer support and talk people through their problems and help find answers over the phone rather than face-to-face while the restrictions are in place.
How you can help:
The best way you can help us carry on through all this is with a financial donation, whatever you can afford. We can transform money into whatever is needed to match an immediate need most easily.
With the lockdown in place, we can’t accept donations of clothing and furniture and other goods to our closed Op Shops.
It’s through a money donation you can best help those who are going to suffer most of all. You can donate online by clicking here.
If you require our services, including our Foodbank, please call (03) 365 0635 or 0800 787 855
Thank you Christchurch. We are here for you and will always be so.
